If you do not want to change your existing mobile number but want to change telecom service provider. So through Mobile Number Portability (MNP) you can do this by porting your number from existing telecom operator to another operator. If you want to port your Airtel number to BSNL, here is a step by step guide on how to port Airtel number to BSNL?

What is required to convert Airtel number to BSNL?

The Airtel number you are going to port should be 90 days old, you should have one of these valid certificates like Voter ID card, Driving license, Aadhaar card as documents. If you want to port the postpaid number, first you have to pay the outstanding bill.

Required documents:
  • Identity proof – eg – Voter ID card, or Aadhaar card
  • two passport size photos
  • Mobile number to be ported must have outgoing messaging service

How to port Airtel number to BSNL?

You can easily port Airtel sim to BSNL by following the steps given below.

  1. First of all, get Unique Porting Code (UPC) by sending SMS to 1900 by typing PORT 10 digit your mobile number.
    As- To - 1900
    messsge - PORT 88756***44
  2. After that a message will be received on your mobile in which UPC code (Unique porting code) will be written. This code will be used to change the sim.
    You can use this code once within 15 days.
  3. After that you have to visit any BSNL Store near you to request for porting of mobile number.
  4. Go there and ask the officer to port your number.
  5. After that the customer officer will ask you about the required documents and UPC, provide them UPC and required documents.
  6. Fill a CAF (Customer Application Form) and pay the porting fee for processing. (Currently BSNL is not charging any fee for porting to BSNL).।
  7. You will be given a New BSNL SIM Card.

On approval of the porting request, BSNL will inform you the date and time of porting. You will need to replace your SIM card at that time. In case of any problem, you can contact on toll free number 1800-180-1503 or 1503.


Note - You can also get the same process done from the mobile shopkeeper having BSNL SIM. All you need to carry is an identity card like Aadhaar card, 2 passport size photographs, and the SIM card with the number you want to change. The shopkeeper will charge his fee and replace your SIM with the same number and give it to you.
